Did your pediatrician give the ok to start solids before 6 months?

Following K’s poll, just curious what different pediatricians are saying.

Haven’t gone to my son’s 4 month appointment yet, but they handed out information on introducing solids last appointment, which still says 4-6 months. I’ll have to see what they recommend now, but I’m still going to wait until 6 months. They recommended introducing solids at 4 months with my first daughter but that was 6 years ago and she had severe acid reflux.

I had my sons 4 months visit on the 3rd of March, and my dr said she didn't reccomend i try giving him food until he shows signs he is ready and it's best to wait until 6 months as their digestive system isn't properly developed yet... she told me when i do start solids to only give him 1 teaspoon of something a day, not a full little bowl, just 1 teaspoon. Usually before bed. So i'll probably start Kai on veggies first, like mashed sweet potato, so i'll give him 1 teaspoon of that and mix a bit of breast milk with it and i'll do that for week and then the next week try something else 😊

I was quite surprised when our doctor suggested we start letting my LO explore different foods, primarily oatmeal. Truthfully I didn't even plan on asking about it. She wanted her to start trying to get more iron in her diet and said to take it slow so that when she really needs it most (around 6mo) she'll be used to a spoon and other methods of feeding.

There’s no need nutritionally to start solids before 6 months. My 4 month old is on solids now but only because she has CMPA and reflux and started screaming every time she had a bottle of her fully hydrolysed formula. She maybe doesn’t like the taste. She wasn’t putting on weight so had to start solids. She really enjoys fruit and veg purées. She’s getting weighed tomorrow so will find out if it’s making a difference
