almost lost my daughter :(

Cynthia

so, my daughter is 9 months old. Crawls, is very playful and happy and eat A LOT. Anyway, yesterday we were in the living room and she was playing with all her toys so while she was doing that I went to the kitchen to prepare to cook dinner. I didn’t think she would get hurt or eat anything since the house was completely clean and spotless. After a few minutes, I walk over to her and see she’s just crawling all around the house. Fast forward to around her bed time, she was being fussy. I tried giving her milk out of her bottle, she’s out her mouth on it for 1 second then pull back and begin crying again so instead I just tried breast feeding her and she’d do the same. I was confused because she seemed like she really wanted to drink milk but she’d stop the second she tried to. I ended up being able to put her to sleep, 30 minutes later. She woke up around 3-4 times at night just crying very hard and again would refuse to drink milk even though she would try. I was so confused. In the morning, she woke up normally. We got up and played for a little then I noticed her getting hungry again. Once she refused to drink out of her bottle is when I really started getting concerned as to why she wouldn’t eat. She started screaming and crying and that’s when I was able to see she had something stuck to the roof of her mouth. I was in shock.

I had NO IDEA what that clear this was. At first, I tried putting my finger in to try and take It out but it was literally suctioned and stuck there. it was not moving so many how hard I tried to take it out so I immediately got in the car and rushed her to the ER. There, I was able to go into a room and the doctor walked in and she also was as shocked as me and was confused! We both didn’t know what that thing was! she walks out then a few minutes go by and 6 doctors come into the room to check it out and try to help. I layed down on the bed with her on top on me facing upwards, I held her arms and legs while she screamed on the top of her lungs. The doctor put his finger in and boom it was out. He looks at it and tells me i’m very lucky because the thing was exactly the size of her trachea and if she would’ve swallowed it... you know. The other doctor told me that she’s been doing this for 20 years and has never seen something like this. He said it was something from furniture so as soon as I got home I flipped everything upside down and looked at the tables to see if I could find where it came from and then I find where it came from. A cabinet!!!

Just the fact that it’s the exact same size as her trachea and that it got stuck on the roof of her mouth and not her throat that woudlve ultimately made her die is so scary... it is SO EASY to lose your baby. This was definitely a wake up call and i’m going to take off all the cabinets bumpers and make them more baby proof.

This picture was taken after they took the thing out of her mouth, and she swallowed that milk so fast since she hadn’t eaten since THE DAY BEFORE 😪🤕😢 I wish I would’ve caught it earlier but i’m glad I caught it before it was too late.
