2cm dilated already 😶

So I had my regular routine appt today and I’m currently 31w2d and I insisted the doctor check me cause I was sure I was already dialated and indeed I’m at 2cm and he said my cervix is soft and baby is head down and most likely won’t be turning back around again before birth.

When I had my son 8 years ago I was 4cm dialated for the last month and a half before I had to get induced at 41w so I’m aware this is not an indicator but how many people had this and went into labor early? I’m hoping I don’t need to get induced this time around cause it wasn’t fun at all, I’m trying to do this as natural as possible.
