Even though there may be that many swimmer, by the time they have run the race there is only half a dozen left as well. All of them don't reach the egg.

Unfortunately even if you have intercourse every day, the sperm and egg still need the perfect environment to ‘get together’ (as long as there are no other underlying issues). Hence why it can take awhile to get pregnant.
