Company misinformed about maternity benefits ...

i was told by HR person that i would need to use my personal and vacation time the first 30 days and then short term disability would kick in for the next 8 weeks because i had a C-Section.

i would be paid 60% of my pay by short term disability.

a week ago, i am contacted by insurance company and told they will only be paying 60% of pay for 4 weeks because short term disability was included via an elimination period over the first 30 days. this is the contract my employer has with short term disability company .

so i thought i was going to be paid for 8 weeks @ 60% but instead it’s just 4 weeks 🙃

the HR person is just like ..” oh , i thought it was different.... if that’s what they say than that’s what it is... nothing we can do to change than.” so it’s just a big “oops.”

how can you get something so significant wrong ?

what would you do??
