Growth spurt

Are growth spurts real? My LO is 5 weeks and has been acting crazy!! He cries or fusses all the time. He cries and when I give him a bottle he attacks it like he’s starving even if he’s eaten 30 mins to 1 hr before. I think he has gas cause he’s constantly farting and pushing but I’ve gave him gas drops and he’s still fussy constantly. He sleeps good through the night but during the day he fights his sleep and if I put him down he’ll wake up after awhile so I can’t get anything done. He won’t let me put him down if he’s awake I try putting him in his swing and after a few minutes he starts fussing I don’t know what to do I can’t do anything I barely eat and that’s only when my SO gets home from work.
