Birth story! No more induction!
Here’s my story! At 38 weeks I had been feeling so done, hip pain, contractions daily, insomnia, etc. I was 40% effaced and dilated to a 3! Had a membrane sweep done and doc fully expected to see me before my scheduled induction for the next week. Well the week went on, My parents came into town, and i lost my plug, and that was it. Even the prodromal labor contractions I’d been having for weeks stopped. I was feeling so defeated because I did not want to be induced but we knew me going another week would likely have issues. By Sunday night I was feeling pretty achy, we were scheduled to be at the hospital at 4:30 am the next morning! So my husband and i decided to have sex one last time since i knew I’d be waiting the full 6 weeks or more after birth to do it again. Well that was the magic this last time! Less than 20 minutes later contractions started at 8 mins apart!

I laid there and timed them for an hour and they got to be 3 1/2 mins apart very very quickly! So we gathered our things and put our toddler in bed with my parents so he wouldn’t go looking for us, and headed to the hospital!
I was a 4, 80% effaced and having regular contractions and got admitted around midnight. This is when things slowed down and led to them getting hairy.

4 hours later I had progressed to a 6 but contractions had stopped almost entirely. So we decided to go ahead and get an epidural and start pitocin! Well my reaction to the epidural was awful. I had gotten one with my first at a 6, and it was great. This time my body rejected it, BP dropped to 73/40. I was passing out, baby wasn’t liking it, people swarmed! Oxygen, lots of vomiting, maybe ephedrine? Idk what med they gave me. Eventually it all calmed down and my BP came up and baby started doing better. We decided to ahead and try the pitocin finally and I made it to a 9 quickly after, 10 mins of pushing baby boy was here!

My first was 8lb 9oz and this new little man was 8lb 8oz! I guess i just make 8 1/2 lb babies lol. I lost a lot of blood so I had to stay a while to make sure I didn’t need a transfusion. But we are happy and home now! I’m feeling ok sore-wise. But the post-labor uterine contractions to shrink things back up are MUCH worse this time around. Still so glad to be home!!!
