Trust your body
Just wanted to share my experience. I went yesterday for a growth ultrasound. My doctor was going out of town so I wasn’t scheduled to see him until Tuesday. The ultrasound tech at first said my fluid seemed low. She turned me a couple times then said it was ok but still kinda low and she was gonna tell the doctor. Yesterday I had seen small pieces of red and brown when I peed. Figured it’s pieces of my mucus plug but didn’t get too excited since it can regenerate. He decided to fit me in so he could check me. Said I was high and closed. Said what I was seeing could be my cervix starting to thin. As I was checking out I began to feel a gush of fluid which wet my pants. Not a huge gush but felt like more than discharge. I thought maybe it was because he had just checked me so we left and went to lunch. As we’re eating and getting up to leave it just seems to be pretty consistent. I messaged him and he advised me to go to L&D so they can test the fluid to see if it’s amniotic. It was! And I had dilated to a 1 all within less than an hour. They admitted me and I started going into labor and ended up delivering my son 9 hours after my US appointment. If I hadn’t trusted my gut about reaching out to the doctor about the fluid I would have gone home and then had to come back when it was possibly too late. When I was admitted I didn’t really start feeling the contractions until I was at 4-5 even though they were 2-6 minutes apart. I just wanted to say please trust your body and reach out to your doctor/provider if you ever feel something not right or have a question.
