Can i admit myself to a mental hospital?? UK

So im from uk.. health care is free here.. i really feel like i need to admit myself..i have severe depression and self harm..im a threat to myself   whats it like being in a mental home in uk? Someone please help me..

And ask for the crisis team! They will help yu and send a cpn out to assess yu CPN Meaning psychiatric nurse

Firstly I think you're amazing for having enough strength and courage! You can admit yourself yes but I don't know the answer to your question about what one is like but I would imagine where you are at right now is a lot more terrifying than once you're actually there. I hope you manage to admit yourself. Good luck and try to stay strong.

I'm not from the U.K. but one of my relatives self admitted themselves to a mental hospital during a really rough spot in their life and from what they said, it wasn't bad.  Said it was a nice facility, they felt well taken care of and they had group and one on one therapy.
