Should you have a baby shower for your 2nd child if it was a different gender as the first?

So my mom and MANY people around me tend to think that I’m “over doing it” by throwing MYSELF a baby shower for our 2nd child that we are having in July ! Our first was a boy and my mom and dad threw one, and now we’re having a girl. I thought it would be nice to have a baby shower given the fact that I have only ALL BOYS CLOTHES💁🏽‍♀️ a lot of our baby things got ruined in our old house and had to be thrown out so we’re starting fresh all over again. My mom thinks that it’s a total waste of time and I’m being dramatic by throwing another one for my baby girl
