Birth control question
So I have taking birth control for over a year now (more specifically Blisovi Fe). I knew when starting taking birth control that my period would be somewhat irregular for the first few months while my body adjusted and I was perfectly fine with that. I just wanted my period to be less heavy and therefore more manageable.
First few months were what I expected. Had to deal with some breakthrough bleeding and spotting which was annoying but since I had been warned by my doctor I wasn’t very worried.
Now that it has been almost a year on this birth control the irregularities never really stopped. Every other month my period would actually happen on the day I start the placebo pills or on the following day and my periods were less heavy. That’s great! However, during the other months I will get a lot of breakthrough bleeding and even periods (sometimes very heavy periods similar to what I had before starting birth control or even worse) when I’m taking my active pills. There have even been times where I have had two periods in a single month which absolutely sucked.
So the questions I have are is this normal? Should I continue taking my currently birth control for a while longer and see if it eventually becomes more regular or should I talk to my doctor to switch to something else? Then if I should switch, do you have any potential recommendations for a specific birth control I should discuss with my doctor?
Keep in mind I have never missed taking my pill on time as of yet so making sure to actually take it on time has not been an issue for me.
