Should I take the meds my dr prescribed?

So my dr called in a medication called Nuvessa. It’s a cream used to rid vaginal bacteria. When I researched it there are mixed reviews as to whether it could harm the unborn baby or not. I’m confused, if it could harm my baby why would my dr prescribe it? 
Anyone else use this while pregnant ?
