I want to go on the pill

I'm 17 and have super bad cramps, back pain and acne whenever my period rolls around and many of my friends say that the pill can help with all that, but I've also heard that for some people it makes it worse.

I also have a new boyfriend and we haven't had sex yet but it's probably gonna happen soon, so I also want that added precaution + condoms.

Basically I'm just curious to hear about everyone's experience taking birth control (which I know is different for everybody).
