Co sleep or crib for newborn?

My daughter is due May 25th, I am wondering if we should co sleep starting out? Or go straight to the crib? It seems professionals suggest straight to the crib. And others suggest co sleep. I would really like to get her in the crib and used to it. Esepcially for when i return to work. This is my first baby

I think you mean room-sharing? A professional would always suggest sharing a room with a newborn, as it is shown to reduce the risk of SIDS. Co-sleeping however, where you share a bed with baby, is not safe and is not recommended ever. We will be keeping baby in a bassinet near our bed for the first 6 months.

With my son we used the bassinet for night time but his crib for napping. That made it easier to transition to his crib at night and I had him in his own room totally by 2-3 months. This baby we will probably do the same.

Statistics show the safest place for baby to sleep is in their own crib or bassinet. We are pretty strict with sleep safety, therefore I would suggest following the safety guidelines. Also, we never had to “transition” our daughter to her crib since she was pretty used to it from the beginning.

My son was in a crib from day 1.

Our daughter slept in a bassinet in our room until she could sit up, then she was in between us on her changing pad (we have a king bed). It was elevated so we felt she was safer. My wife breastfed and it was much easier for her to feed and sleep and our daughter transitioned to her crib once she weaned around 18 months. Now we’re having twins, so I have no idea what’s going to happen this time 😂

We’re building a cosleeper for my side of the bed because I plan on EBF. Ain’t no way I’m getting out of bed multiple times a night to breastfeed 😂 Plus we don’t have room for a crib in our room. Babe will probably be in our room for at least the first year

It’s suggested your baby sleep in your room for the first 6 months if you want to co sleep that’s completely up to. I co slept with my first son it made breastfeeding easier for me however I did have to really work at getting him out my bed and use to his own. This time around I won’t do sleep but will keep my second son in a bassinet next to my bed for the first six months. Again all preferences I’d keep her in your room and if you want to co sleep do it if not don’t.

I had a bassinet and co sleeper. I will recommend a co sleeper over and over again! My son does take naps in his crib but we are keeping him in our room for a while longer for nightime (he’s almost 9 months)

I used a pack and play with the bassinet portion for the first three months and then just the pack and play until a bit over a year.  It was just easier.
