do you regret buying a home

my friend was telling me her dad had listened to some public radio about people in their 30s biggest regret was buying a home, and they wish they had just stayed as renters. 
part of me feels like this is bologna and her dad was just saying this to make her feel better because I realize now she most likely will never own a home (for multiple reasons). 
so do you regret it? or not? and how long have you been home owners.

been a homeowner for 5 years, in the process of selling my home and buying another one. 
I love current house, will love my new house even more. 
I would never go back to renting as long as I can help it. having freedom to do what you want with your home is amazing.

We love owning a home and we’re excited to buy a new one someday. 
People who regret it are likely taking the full loan the bank approved and not taking out a loan that is within their means. Our mortgage is an amount that allows us to be okay financially and build our savings. My friend’s mortgage is an amount that they are living paycheck to paycheck and their income is much higher than ours.

If you live where your means allow you to as far as loans go, I have no idea why someone would regret it. Renting is just throwing away money in my book. I’m 30 and we bought our home when I was 26. I have no regrets and it’s nothing spectacular but the views and history (it was my grams) are so worth it. I had to include some pictures 😍

If you can afford to purchase a home do it. You’re just throwing money away without building equity. Husband and I own a rental property. We are in the process of purchasing a new home now... while also turning our current one into another rental. (Which sucks because I just remodeled the master bath but new house is 4 blocks from the beach so 🤷🏼‍♀️) 
We purchased our first rental property with the money we would of used for a wedding. (Thank god, I know people who are divorced and they’re still paying their wedding off) Which has now helped us into owning three houses. I listen to talk radio myself. Clark Howard said if your house is pretty much paid off with a new roof, a/c and easy to maintain do not get rid of it. It’s working for us.

We bought our house a year ago and I love it! It does suck to be stuck footing the bill for repairs etc but honestly it's so worth it. I can do whatever I want to my house, and I'm not paying thousands of dollars a year that's just being thrown away.

Yup. We bought too young and made a bad choice in location for resale purposes. We put a lot of savings into our first home, between down payment and necessary renovations, and the recession hit in 2008 and we had to sell at a loss years later when we moved. 
We would be LIGHT YEARS better off renting for the first few years and THEN buying in a better location.

I absolutely do not regret buying my home. I would be paying at least 1000/month more than my mortgage to rent a similar sized home right now. I have frustrations with my current home, but it was still the right decision. I guess it depends on the market where you live, but where I live owning is wayyyyy cheaper than renting.

I don’t regret it one bit. Renting is just throwing money away. Bought a condo 5 years ago with a $14,000 down payment, now have $50,000 in equity. If you can afford it, and are financially stable, do it.

I've been a homeowner for 5 years. My first place was a condo which we didn't end up selling when we bought our house and are now renting out our condo. I would never want to go back to renting. While renting you are just giving someone else a possible mortgage payment that you can't get back.
