Admited for Placental Abruption at 32 weeks

Natalie • Momma to be in may 2019 with baby numero uno💛

Im not as nervous as I though I would be considering how well taken care of I am here at my hospital. Yesterday (3/22/19) I had a dull headache all day that didn’t go away no matter what I did and I didn’t think too much about it because I had also just gotten a cold and thought maybe they were related. I rested all day and didn’t really do much more than make my boyfriend and I lunch and use the restroom. Then at about 5:30pm we went to Walmart to get ice cream and as we were walking back toward the car I had some minor period like cramps but they went away very quickly and we’re not painful just uncomfortable. Fast forward about an hour or so I go to the restroom and when I look in the toilet there is blood in the toilet and again when I wiped. I also filled a pantyliner. So I called the hospital and they told me to come in right away since I had never had my cervix checked and I hadn’t had sex in the last few days. We get checked into triage and they start monitoring me and I’m having pretty strong contractions the were pretty consistent. They start me on an IV thinking that maybe I’m just dehydrated but the contractions did not go away. So they send me down stairs to get an ultrasound to look at my cervix and placenta. My cervix was still closed and long but a 4cmx1cm section of my placenta had detached. They immediately put me on bed rest and I’m unable to eat or drink anything. They also gave my steroids for baby’s lungs just in case he is born early. I had 3 failed IVs and I now have a catheter in as well. And let me tell you that shit is not fun to get when you can feel every bit of it. They are going to keep me for a few days to make sure everything is okay and that I’m not going to progress and deliver early. Just thought I would share Incase anyone else was experiencing something similar.

Update* just got cleared to eat since I’m stable(:

Update #2* I am off bed rest and had my catheter removed and they’re planning on sending me home today! They had to send a sample of my blood to a local college to be tested just to make sure baby’s blood didn’t enter my blood stream since I’m RH negative. And thank you all for the prayers and well wishes
