IUD experience?

I’m getting an IUD inserted in a couple of weeks and I’ve heard you can bleed for a long time afterwards. Is there anyway to prevent this? I’ve heard taking ibuprofen every 6-8 hours for a week Before the procedure can help. Also, how bad is the pain during insertion?

It’s not necessarily that much blood. During the procedure they use Iodine to keep everything clean. And mostly that is what will be coming out. You can’t stop it. The pain isn’t that bad. You can just power through it.

Ibuprofen doesnt stop periods it slows flow. So it will make your periods lighter but last longer which is what the hormonal iuds do anyways. Heavier and prolonged bleeding is the most common side effect for the first 6 months. Taking that much ibuprofen is so bad for your liver. It can kill you to do that too much. I wouldnt. Just wait it out.
