I just need to vent. I’m going to be quitting my job in the morning after working there for just 2 days. I’m a nurse and this place is complete shit. I’m doing nights and both nights have been short staffed, the employees sleep all night when they aren’t supposed to, and they have residents here that should be at a more skilled facility. The med carts are a complete nightmare and someone is going to end up fucking up the meds eventually and kill someone. Then tonight (second night of training) the guy training me has done nothing but complain and talk down about the place. Apparently the place doesn’t have state checks because the owner is in with someone high up. It’s assisted/independent living but they have people that are severely demented and NEED a a hoyer or sit to stand, the facility can’t LEGALLY have these types and don’t have the means to assist them. I’m also fairly lenient about the CNAs and other staff under my charge but I absolutely am not okay with them disappearing the whole night (just found one laying on a resident couch asleep). The guy I’m training with has reported them for this behavior but the DON and facility refuse to address it. I’m going to tell them this isn’t working out tomorrow to protect my own ass and the license I’ve worked so hard for and will be reporting them to state. This is ridiculous and I needed to vent before I lost my shit.
