Anyone else feel bad for choosing a medicated birth?

I always feel kind of bad when someone asks if I’m going to have a natural birth and I say no...is that just me being weird? Or do other moms feel this way too?

I didn’t feel bad at all. I wasn’t trying to power through birth with no medication just so I can brag about it.  I got an epidural as soon as I was admitted & it was fucking wonderful 👌🏻

Nope! My first was 40 hours with no meds or epi. My second I got that bitch in so I didn’t feel a damn thing lol

I can’t wait for the pain meds! I don’t feel bad at all when people ask, I think it’s rude and they should feel weird for asking such a personal question that’s none of their business in the slightest!

Hell no. With my first baby I felt all this pressure to be as hippie as possible about my childbirth experience. (Think in the water, zero interventions, zero medication, etc.) Well, I got induced. That was the first unnatural thing about my birth experience. But also, I suffered for 32 hours with no epidural just so I could prove something. To prove I was ridiculously strong, woman enough to do what hardly a single woman does these days, and to prove that I am a force not to be reckoned with. Lol. Why I thought all that extra was necessary was beyond me. I ended with emergency c-section. My pride smacked me hard in my face. I’m trying for vbac this time but honey trust me when I say I will take any drugs necessary to make me comfortable. Lol

I feel like everyone thinks I'm crazy for wanting as little to no meds as possible. Had a co worker ask if I was trying to be a "hero"(?) My Dr. said realistically people gets meds for filling a cavity, it's just up to the person being treated. Most everyone I know had meds... It seems to be the norm to ask for drugs. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was feeling bad until I talked with my midwife about it. I wanted to be able to move a lot before getting an epidural- like being able to squat and kneel for opening up my hips and helping baby move down and out. She explained to me that I can move as much as I want and wait to get epidural until pretty late on and even once I do get the epidural, I’ll be able to move and kneel in bed and lay on my sides. I was under the impression it was all “lay on your back and don’t move” but things are pretty different now 🤷‍♀️

I don’t feel bad. It’s my body and my pain tolerance. It’s not like I’m abusing illegal drugs while pregnant; it’s a pain medication for a short time. I’ve never had issues with it and neither have my babies.

I feltbad at fkrst but then i realized i wanted to enjoy the momrnt i saw my baby and not dwell on pain or the fact i had to use meds. It happens and you shouldbt have to feel bad about it!

There is nothing to feel bad about. Suffering does not make you any more of a mother than getting some relief.

I tried to choose a natural birth, but Pitocin kicked my butt...hard. Now I could be the freaking poster child for epidurals. Haha. Getting the epidural was the best decision I made! I dilated immediately from 6 to 10 as soon as I got it. I was tired of shaking from pain. I have zero regrets, even though my birth plan was centered around being natural.
