Preschool advice?
Hope i can get some thoughts on preschool if there are moms here who are teachers etc. 😌 My daughter will be 3 in may 28th, and i'm a stay at home mom, she has been with me since she was born. I do try to bring her to play groups, do sensory or craft activities daily but i would like preschool to be a place where she will the age appropriate challenges, interacting with peers etc. I just started sending my daughter to this, i wouldnt really call it a preschool cos i was a bit skeptical of their programme but i just wanted to give it a try first. It seem more like a day care to me. The teachers seem pleasant. My concerns are that she is put in the 4 year old class, this was under the advise of the school principal and principal's reasons were something about they can give more care to the 3 year old in a 4 year old class.. my daughter's class size is believe it or not up to 40 students, and the teachers claim there are 4-5 teachers and assistant at a time.. when they took me on school tour a different staff said its just 20 kids tops in that class.. which i was uncomfortable cos i felt it was a huge class for preschool.. from there i cant help but feel like they kind of lied to me to get to sign up my child with their school.. i have paid all the fees and on the first day i was unhappy to find my daughter just lost in an play room with up to 30 kids.. my questions are like are they learning much? can the teachers handle the kids? meal time was kind of pathetic they served chocolate cereal and i saw they didnt serve it individually, but it in a big bowl and the kids all dug their hands in it, some kids were kids were sick with flu so imagine their hands taking from the same snack bowl? 😔🤔
So far the teachers said my daughter is friendly with there, she didnt cry but she did ask from time to time where is mummy? and here's the other thing.. they said nap time was 1pm-3pm.. i informed them that the first week i will fetch my daughter by 12.30pm as i know she will have a hard time napping without me and she hasnt had lunch.. the first day i fetched her i rang the front door 3 times no one came to unlock the door for me, when i came in ALL the kids were already asleep in the nap area.. (that was 12.20pm), that meant obviously the teachers put the kids to sleep by 12pm??! thats insanely early for nap for 4yr olds! and they started "school" with watching tv! i dont know for long cos around 8.30 i was told to leave the premise..
The only reason why i wanted to try this preschool is its right in my hubby's office building and im due may 10th with the baby brother, i thought of giving her her own time just 3.5hrs a day to mix with friends etc.. but im really not sure now.. should i pull her out from the school or just wait until end of april and see if her behaviour changes? Also my mum and inlaws were pestering me like crazy since she was 2.5 why dont u send her to school, why isnt she in school yet?! Teacher said she also refused all her bottles (she takes 2-3 by 1pm), and food.. so she's not eating or drinking anything at all from 7.30am until when i fetch her at 12! 😵
Also when i came in around 10am to quickly pass some packed food for my daughter i could hear the teacher yelling to a student all the way from the front entrance.. 😔 the staff actually stopped me and told me not to enter beyond the hallway..
