Partner with trust issues

My boyfriend has been in, i think, 3 relationships before me and He was cheated on in every one of them. I am now his longest consistent relationship coming up to 3 years and I would NEVER do that to someone. I've had the chance, I've even been ENCOURAGED to cheat before and still would never do something like that (he knows)

He understandably has issues and he tries but I'm typically more independent than he is and have things that I want to do in my life that will probably involve us being apart for a little while. He's just starting his second year at college and could have another 2-7 depending. I just don't want to feel like I'm being held back or that I'm waiting for someone else's dreams to come true before I can start on mine
