Can you ask to be induced?

I’m 34 weeks with my twins. My next doctor appointment is April 16th, and I’ll be 36 weeks and about 4 days. They’re both head down. And the doctor thinks I’ll be able to deliver naturally. So what I’m wondering is at my next appointment can i ask to be induced? Or is that a selfish thing to do?.. help

What kind of twins are you having? I’m having mo/di. My MFM wants them out ASAP at 36 weeks. I think with di/di they try to get you to 38 weeks though. It wouldn’t hurt to ask. I always ask about stuff and when they get snarky, I remind them that I’ve never been through a twin pregnancy before and don’t know how this all works.

With twins, drs. Usually induce around 38 weeks anyways. Has he/she not talked to you about how things are going to go ?

You can definitely ask. They probably won’t schedule you yet but they should be able to at least tell you their recommendation. Depending on the type of twins you’re having most doctors induce by 36 or 38 weeks. Many times women will go into labor by themselves so an induction isn’t necessary but my doctor still gave me her expectations about if I made it that far. Doesn’t hurt to ask!

I don't know that a doctor would induce at 36 weeks without a clear reason to do so, even with twins. 37 is more of a possibility. Lung maturity is such a big deal.
