Zofran??

Question

Anyone take Zofran during pregnancy? I was sick one night throwing up with stomach cramps and I couldn’t keep anything down so I was worried I would get dehydrated. So I went to the ER and they gave me an IV with Zofran to get rid of the nausea. I think I was around 9 weeks when this happened. Anyways I looked up the medicine when I got home and I found out that they don’t recommend it for pregnancy anymore because of the risk of cleft lip and cleft palate and other problems. I found a lot of conflicting info saying it does cause problems and then other sites saying it doesn’t. I was so upset I keep thinking about it affecting my baby. Has anyone taken it in a previous pregnancy and had their baby turn out fine?

I have been taking it 3 times per day from week 8 due to severe sickness. I am 20 weeks now and so far all my scans look perfect :) hope that helps x

I think it’s fine for occasional use but it is no longer the go to drug for pregnancy nausea due it causing birth defects like heart issues and cleft palates. If you need something for morning sickness diclegis is currently approved and recommended.💕

My Ob actually just prescribed zofran for me because the Bonjesta wipes me out😩

With my first my doctor prescribed it and I took it a handful of times, but the flavor made me even more sick honestly... when they gave it to me in the iv it was fine and helped but I couldn’t take it orally. I then found out all the health risks and birth defects and I found out about all the related lawsuits and immediately stopped. This time I’ve been on diclegis when needed and promethazine and they help a lot and both are approved by the fda and only side effect is that it makes you exhausted

I took it twice a day during my first trimester.  So far no issues with the baby.

I’ve taken it with both my pregnancies. My last I had taken it from start to finish. My baby boy didn’t have any problems related to zofran use

I take diclegis, they gave me Zofran and honestly it made me more sick. Everyone is different though and my doc didn’t say anything about it being bad.

Yeah I take it every now and then. Perfectly safe and is prescribed during pregnancy in Australia 😊

I take it 3 times a day religiously, and it has been taste in pregnant women an it is safe. There are only a few that has been actually tested, and zofran is one of them.  It used to be unclear if it was safe a long time ago, but it is good to go now.
