Why am I being tested early for GD when my glucose is normal?

Question

My glucose was 80 at my 11 week appointment but my doctor wants to test be for Gestational Diabetes at 15 weeks. Is this just because I’m fat? Could I really suddenly develop GD in the next 4 weeks even though my glucose has always been normal?

I was tested at 16 weeks and will test again next week at 28 weeks. We probably are being tested bc if our weight. I am 275. If I have gestation diabetes then I want to know to protect my baby.

You have the right to refuse. I will do the 1 hour test in the normal time frame, that is all unless I fail. I’m on my 4th pregnancy (3rd past 1st trimester). I’m currently between 230-235lbs at 21 weeks. I’m only 5’ so I am considered morbidly obese and have been considered this in my last 3 pregnancies (which includes my current). If you have no indications of GD, I wouldn’t worry. I’ve not had GD in any of my pregnancies. 
Your care provider seems like they are only doing this due to your weight, which is sad. You deserve better than that.

I am getting tested early at 20 weeks and then again at the normal 28. Thye said since I have PCOS there is a higher risk so they test early.

I got tested at 16 weeks and passed and they told me i would be getting tested again at 28 weeks and they said because i am overweight

I started pregnancy at 208 (5’3) and she tested me at 10 weeks. It was all clear so she said she would do it again at 24 weeks. I have gained 14 pounds in 18 weeks though which is more than I gained in my other 3 pregnancies so that could of been why. I had gained 7 pounds between my 8-10 week appointment.
