Obgyn in NY/NJ???

Any suggestions for an obgyn in the new york/new jersey area that is empathetic and doesn’t make you feel horrible for being both pregnant and obese?? I really want to change care to where thats not the focal point of my entire pregnancy.

Plus size, Pregnant and going abroad!

I’m just looking for other people’s experiences. I’m going away to turkey for 10 nights in September with my partner & 3 year old . I will be 20+ weeks at the time and already plus size as it is. I’m worried about going abroad probably even bigger than I will be now. (Possible stares, getting laughed at, not being able to do as much etc) even falling through the sun loungers 😂Some reassuarnacr and other experiences will be nice to hear

Hi. Just venting and Questions

Currently 15 weeks and 4 days into my pregnancy. NIPT is telling me I’m having a girl! My first girl (so excited) I have two boys and I’m thinking because of how hard this pregnancy has been so far that this is my last but my husband wants at least one more. I’m scared terrified actually to get excited since this is my rainbow baby. 🌈 and I’m not feeling any movements. With us plus size girlies how long do I have to wait to feel movements? I figure with the extra cushion it may be a little while. Any way just here to vent and say hello. Currently living in Phoenix Az if anyone lives here and preggers say Hi! Also in school (online due to high risk) Due 9/2 need some belly friends 😊❤️

I am plus size and pregnant for the first time- also a girl! 🎀 I started feeling flutters at 17 weeks and stronger movements at 22 weeks- I’m now 25 weeks and feeling things pretty consistently. I can’t really feel anything from the outside but she’s dancing away in there! But my ob told me it’s ok to not feel consistent movements really until after 28 weeks and even then everyone’s baby will be different.

Plus size breastfeeding

I’m currently pregnant with my first and am obese/plus sized. So far everything in the pregnancy is going very well. I just find anytime I google a topic about being my size and pregnant I just hear horror stories. I really really really want to exclusively breastfeed. But everything I’m reading online says I’ll have all of these problems with it due to my weight. Is it possible to be 300lbs and have a successful breast feeding journey? I just want to hear some positive stories- please don’t tell me to not worry about breastfeeding and just do formula. I just want some breast feeding encouragement from other plus size mamas ! Thank you!

Absolutely. I don’t see why you couldn’t unless you have a condition preventing it. I was like 240 last pregnancy and got up to 280 at some point. I breast fed just fine, only stopped because it was HARD lol.

Longest 3 weeks!

I recently found out im pregnant with baby #2 and my appointment with my Dr isnt until March 15th......it seems so far away. Shouldn't i be able to het in sooner for bloodwork at least? Trying not to go nuts.

Heard Baby! I am so excited.

I don’t know where else to post this because i haven’t been able to find any groups with my current situation. I had gastric bypass in May 2023. I am currently 11w0d. I have officially lost my first 100lbs (yey me! 🎉 Thanks to pregnancy (morning) sickness too). I think this info is relevant because I had an appointment with the OB yesterday and we decided to try to see if we can hear baby’s heartbeat, but didn’t expect to hear anything. We kept hearing ghosts of heartbeat but the doctor was able to find the heartbeat and get a heart rate!! (it was 145 bpm) I was never able to do that before 15 weeks in my previous pregnancies! I’m so happy and excited about that! I’m still considered obese, but this one “little” thing made me so happy and excited.Thank you for reading my little story.

16 weeks

I’m 16 weeks today and seeing posts from smaller women showing off their bumps. I’m feeling a bit down that I am at a point with my body where my stomach is too large/holds my most fat that I don’t see any changes in my “bump”. Has anyone else felt with this? How did you deal? One way I’ve been coping is by listening to baby’s heart rate with a Doppler at night.

It took a lot of time for me to be comfortable being a bigger girl. I didn’t really start feeling like I had a bump until around 20 weeks when I started rounding out.

Newborn family photos clothes!?

My third is due next month then we’ll have family newborn photos. Any plus sized mama have dresses they love? Bonus if it’s green!

Not hearing heartbeat on Doppler

On Saturday we had an ultrasound and everything looked good with baby. Went today for a prenatal with my family doctor and she tried to hear the heartbeat on the Doppler but couldn’t find it. I’m 13 weeks 2 days. She said that was normal for a first pregnancy and she wasn’t worried because the ultrasound was good. I am bigger and already had a fat stomach before getting pregnant, and she said she didn’t want to press too hard and we will hear it at the next visit.I’m trying not to panic but now I just feel really sad and like I don’t know if the baby is ok and now I have to wait 3 weeks. Have any plus size mamas had this issue before?

With my previous pregnancies I was bigger (80 lbs heavier) and we were not able to hear anything at all before 15/16 weeks. Try not to panic. Since everything from the ultrasound looked good, and you have no other sign of issues, I am sure that your doctor is correct. It really is difficult at this stage being plus size and pregnant. ❤️

Low hcg levels?

Hello everyone 💕 I am 4+2 weeks today (16 dpo). Took a blood test yesterday to test my hcg levels which then showed 117. This morning I took a digital Clearblue test which showed 1-2 weeks. I think the limit is 153-200 hcg or so for clearblue to show 2-3 weeks. Does that mean that my hcg level of 117 has not increased at all in a day? I thought that I would at least be at hcg 200 today? Does it take time for hcg in the blood to be detected in urine? Getting worried :(

Home birth

Has anyone had a home birth? My first I was induced and had c section and all was so traumatic! Just found out I’m pregnant 5 years later and heavier then before. Terrified!

35y diabetic overweight

I have always wanted children. The drs told me when i was16 that i would never have them . I have pcos and now i have diabetes ( for 10 years now) i weigh 297 lbs and im almost 36. We got pregnant!!! The overwhelming joy was the 1st thing i felt ... now i am so scared . What if something happens... what ifs are taking control of my thoughts. I am high risk ( 3 strikes aganist me ) what can i do to ensure i have a healthy baby ? I have been constantly exhausted and nauseous. How do i keep my diabetes under control ? What can i eat that is better for me and the baby ? ... I am so ready to have this baby and i thank God for allowing me to conceive.

Ja

Just wanted to say hi 🥰. I’m 30 years old and the “fear” you mention is incredibly relatable to some degree as I am currently pregnant at 315 pounds. This is my third and I am as unhealthy as I’ve ever been. Nervous, despite excited and happy. I hope you’ve been feeling okay and that all is well on your end 🥰

Plus size bump

17 weeks and I feel my bump is finally showing. For reference im a size 18/20. Just curious did any of you ladies have issues with getting clear ultrasound shots due to weight? Im 280

my last pregnancy I was over 300 and they had no issues with the ultrasound pictures. They will probably want to start under your belly. They did with mine. I understand that concern though! Good question. You look beautiful.

Sono issue

Does any other plus sized momma have hard times with sonograms? I’m 21 weeks pregnant FTM. My sonos never come out looking like anything and at my anatomy scan, they said they’re going to have to redo it at 24 weeks because of my BMI… I’m 5’8” and 260 lbs. I’m so frustrated.

Just had a similar experience. When were you finally able to see your baby? Or did you end up going somewhere else for a sono?
