IUD removal help!

Sarah

I’ve had Skyla for about 6 months and I’ve had it checked twice just to make sure it was in place; I wanted to cut my strings since my partner was feeling them but the Dr said my strings are very short already and she couldn’t cut them anymore or it could be “way more difficult to take the IUD later”. She said she might have trouble taking that one out (I switched Drs because of my insurance), but she said not to worry about it until it’s time to take it out. I can totally feel long stings just with my fingers... my question is, has anyone ever had short strings and problems when getting the iud out? I might take it off just because I’m trying to lose weight and get back in shape and I feel like the iud is interfering plus sex is painful for my partner with it.
