Pregnant Half Marathon
Not sure if anyone can give me advice from experience on this topic:
I am an experienced half marathon and marathon runner. I am very active in general, working out about 5 days a week. I have been training for a half marathon that is now 1 month away. I ran 10 miles straight last Saturday with snack breaks and found out this morning that I’m actually 5w2d pregnant. I think I should be safe to continue to train and complete the half marathon if I’m self aware and listen to my body, but I’m afraid that I push myself too hard by accident because that’s just the kind of person I am. I was going to speak to my doctor but I know she won’t want to see me until I’m around 8 weeks.
Thoughts?
UPDATE: I spoke with the OB today and she said since I’ve been running for years it isn’t totally fine to continue even this early into pregnancy. She said she’s in support of doing the half, and continuing to run through pregnancy. She said the biggest recommendation she has is to HYDRATE HYDRATE HYDRATE!
