No I didnt. You can’t compare yourself to others. Everyone has their own budget- stick to it and wait a couple years if you have a set idea about the wedding and cant afford it now. Don’t put yourself into debt over your wedding, and don’t feel bad if yours isnt as big/fancy/xyz as Karen’s was

I knew a girl who spent all her savings on a big wedding and ended up living with her parents after. Later on, she really didn’t even like her husband any more. Neither made a lot of money and they were stuck in a bad situation of living under someone else’s roof. Could have easily spent that money on a down payment on a house. I got married at sf city hall with only my family and very close friends. The wedding was cheap and I had all the people that mattered there. Best wedding ever. Oh and I was able to save a crap load of money.

It really depends on what you consider “decent” to be. A backyard cookout is “decent” to me and we can afford that. I mean I don’t want to get married so luckily it’s not an issue either way. 😂

Budget, live within your means, then save the extra. You may have to wait longer than you like but you will only afford it by working towards saving for it. Affording a wedding won't just happen to you.

Nah , cause its not what I can't get but what I actually have . we ain't got much in the Bank & I still got my little heart ring , its nice to share with others somewhere nice and beautiful but its the concept of Celebrating and not big and Expensive ! Shoot I'd have me a nice dinner & Felt like that was the best wedding ever with people whom I love and want to celebrate my marriage.

My husband and i saved for years! For our wedding. Heck, we started saving b4 we even got engaged! Lol but when we decided to marry we said if the money is there, then we can spend it. If its not there, we dont spend it. We paid for our wedding ourselves, had everything we wanted, enjoyed ourselves & had $309 left over! No debt, no credit card bills, etc. We did use the credit card to pay for things (we accrued rewards that we then used towards our honeymoon) but the card got paid off right away since the money was already in the savings acct. Just be very smart & realistic about u want & canafford. Its sooooo easy to get carried away & want to buy everything for a wedding. My friend had a beautiful wedding & diy’d a lot of things. People put way to much expectations on a wedding! We spent a total of $5000 and it was perfect. Simple but so wonderful. People think you need to spend a fortune to have the “perfect” day but it’s not about that. Get diying and make what you got work!!! ❤️❤️ good luck
