Is it weird/rude to pick what my baby is going to call my dad? My bf doesnt like what my dad picked (Grandad) and wants to change it to PopPop.

I don't care what my dad picks but my boyfriend hates how Grandad sounds and wants to pick pop-pop. I think the grandparents should pick whatever they like but my boyfriend is pretty adamant that we should be able to pick it. I would feel rude even bringing it up to my dad.

I think it should be up to your dad. I mean it is a nickname for HIM. It doesn’t have anything to do with your husband, other than the fact that he’s the kids father.

We tried to assign names to everyone as well.... 
My daughter (my dads first granddaughter) calls him “papa” and I don’t know where she got it from. He wanted to be called grandpa and the other grandkids call him grandpa. She just started calling him papa and now that’s his name 😂😂😂😂

The grandparents should get final say. My dad wants to be called Dadpa and as much as it irritates me I said okay. And sometimes kids will even come up with their own thing to call grandparents and that will end up sticking instead.

I mean honestly the baby is going to choose when it can talk. My husband’s dad was set on grandpa but now both girls (2yo) call him Papa. For all we know your kid could call him poop head and he’d love it. It’s rude for YOU to change what he’s called though, I’d leave that between the child and the grandparent.

TBH you could always say hey let's go see pop pop and if your dad doesn't like it while he's there he will tell the baby call me grandad . Honestly the baby is gnna eventually call him whatever he wants so 🤷 and TBH for the first couple years he's gonna call everyone mom/mama or daddy/dada

I picked for my grandma. She wanted to be called Nana, which is what I called my great grandmother before she died. I called my grandma ma-maw growing up, so that’s what my daughter called her. I just wasn’t okay with another Nana in the family.

My dad wanted to be grandpa soooo bad. My 2 year old son calls him papa. He will even call my mom grandma but he will not say grandpa, it’s always papa. You can try to pick but your child will make the ultimate decision.
