I have lived in a house for the past 8 years that was built in the 50s. Though most of the inside has been remodeled and repainted lead paint has never really crossed my mind much. As I randomly noticed the connecting garage had a lot of paint chipping on the doors and trim that we have never painted or really paid much attention to we decided to get test strips to see. We have found that the doors going into the house tested positive for lead and the chipping frames around it as well. Also where the door rubs against the frame as it opens and closes is chipped and probably releasing dust every time we open it. So now I’m 35 weeks pregnant and completely devastated and paranoid that from constantly coming in and out of that door on a daily basis I have exposed myself and my baby to a lot of lead.
