Dual Citizenship for Baby?

Question

Has anyone (in Canada) went for dual citizenship for their baby?
What is the process?
I am a Canadian citizen, my husband is a New Zealand citizen. We'd like our baby to have dual citizenship, I just can't really find direct information for it.
Do we apply right away? Do we have to do some form of a test? 
Do any of you happen to have experience on this kind of thing?

My hubby is American/Canadian dual citizen and I’m Canadian so this baby we’ll be filling out the paperwork to make dual citizen as well. Canada doesn’t give a lot of info, we have to call directly to USA embassy’s to get any information or the forms.

I’m a NZ citizen by descent. You can apply for it quite easily after birth if one parent is a NZ citizen by birth (I think it’s usually combined with a passport application) - have a look at www.govt.nz
