Being referred to pediatric surgeon... 💔

Erica

Well we finally had our level 2 ultrasound with Maternal Fetal Medicine today & our worst fears were confirmed. Our sweet little boy has a dilated section of bowel likely due to small bowel atresia (narrowing). This will indefinitely call for surgery immediately following birth. I’m patiently awaiting the call to be schedule with the Fetal Care Center in Denver about an hour away. They told me to anticipate spending around 6-8 hours there for the consult with genetic counseling, pediatric surgery, maternal fetal medicine & other specialists. They’re all going to put their heads together after a fetal MRI and amniocentesis to confirm the diagnosis & make a plan for delivery. My MFM doctor forewarned me that I’ll likely be have a c-section around 35-37 weeks. This isn’t at all what I had hoped for this pregnancy, but for now we’re going to stay positive! I love this sweet sweet boy so much and it’s so hard to know he’s perfect in every other way... 😔💔
