So, me and my SO have two kids a boy & a girl we moved last year into a new house at the time our daughter was a month old, I just had given birth in early July we moved in August my SO was supporting me & our kids because I couldn't work at the time and his job was paying him pretty alright he was making $15 and hr. and in the town we live in that's not too bad off, so everything was fine and then at the end of the year I think around late December he got laid off and he scrambled to find a job and he was struggling to pay the bills I felt so bad I couldn't help him but he finally got a couple of odd jobs here and there and was making ends meet, then January comes by rent gets paid, bills get paid everything is going good & the job he was working let people go again because it was seasonal work he said he had enough money to pay rent, but he had to find another job eventually so he decided to do his income taxes and use both our kids on his taxes except my mom had been using our son for the past 2 years because we used to live with her, well when I mentioned to her that we were going to use both the kids on his taxes she became livid, said she wasn't going to support us any longer or help us out that we owed her and that she needed to use our son on her taxes because she had claimed him before & she was always buying him stuff here & there which is find, but we didn't ask her for that we thought she was doing it to be nice but guess not so I didn't feel like arguing with her because at the time she was helping us, as in letting us wash clothes at her house since we couldn't afford a washer/dryer and where we moved the stuff to connect the washer/dryer was outside & it rained all where the washer and dryer should be hooked up, anyway I talked to my SO and told him what he thought about what she said and he said she was being manipulative and childish and that both his kids lived under his roof so that wasn't fair to him because we were struggling to make ends meet, but he said fine let her claim our son but she needs to give you some of that money she agreed but now it's April and she hasn't mentioned anything and idk if she's ever going to bring him up she basically bullied us into giving it to her by saying she was going to be around for my kids, and that she wasn't going to help us in anyway..what do you guys think I should do
