On the 6th of April at 1:15am we welcomed our little boy Spencer in to the world.

I laboured at home from about 7pm contractions were every 10 or so mins apart then they starting getting closer. By about 9:00pm they were every 6 mins rang the hospital they said to wait until they get to 4 mins before I went in.

I had a shower to help with the pain. I started getting them every 5mins then they started to go to four mins and less. We rang and they said to come in. We drove to the hospital about 10mins away in that time I had three contractions. We went in and they put the monitor on me and the contractions started to ramp up. I vomited which made me feel better I had about 4 or 5 big ones then I asked for pain relief gas and air. I took a few breaths and said it didn’t work. Next thing you know the contractions are coming faster and lasting longer. I then asked for an epidural they said they had to check how dilated I was at first. They checked and the midwife said she wasn’t sure so she got another person to come and check. They said I was at 9cm i said that means I can’t get my epidural ! They all laughed. Then I recall the urge to push which my body started to do naturally. My waters were bulging so they broke them for me. I was off my face on the gas and air.

Whilst pushing they said that his heart rate was dipping and my blood pressure was going up they came to put a canular in my arm I bent the first one apprantly from having a contraction. They said they may have to cut me I yelled like hell and pushed ! He came out with his cord around his neck but I got him out before they had to cut me. I don’t remember the burning feeling of him coming out just recall loving the gas. I felt his head coming out which was amazing. They put him on my chest and within a few mins I pushed the afterbirth out in one go. I ended up with a 2nd degree tear and I had to be stitched which hurt but they let me keep the gas and numbed the area. With in 1he of having him I was showered and on the ward.

We had trouble with latching so we are expressing and feeding him via a bottle

The day he came was exactly one year to the date that we lost his sister at 13 weeks Charlotte Rose she blessed us with him for sure ❤️
