If you feel like you barely know each other I feel like you shouldn’t jump straight into “hEy I like you”. It would most likely make him uncomfortable etc. 
In my opinion, you should find a way to get closer to him first. Social media is a great way to do this if you’re shy irl <3 It would make things less awkward. But obviously getting closer to him irl is way better.
But it’s up to you, if you feel comfortable definitely tell him!
