Last night my boyfriend's parents came over really late to share the news that the middle brother suicided. I am so sad and heartbroken for my boyfriend. We have been together for almost 7 years and I know the family really well. Suicide is always takes a toll on me. It's something I know all too well. I am a mental health nurse and by now i should be used to it. Within the past two years I have personally known 8 people who have killed themselves. Just last month my best friends dad suicided and i just started getting over that. This one is even closer to home. I am trying to stay strong. I have a little baby growing in me who will never know their uncle. Suicide is an epidemic. It is the 2nd leading cause of death in the US. It can happen to anyone. No one is immune to it. Please reach out if you are having suicidal thoughts, talk to your kids about it. Let's break the stigma. Suicide is a long term solution to a temporary crisis.
