How involved has your significant other been?

Im just curious How involved significant other has been during your pregnancy. I’m 23 weeks and Aside from looking at daycares, discussing names and coming with me to my ultrasound appts. That’s about it. My husband hasn’t researched anything for our registry he’s left it all up to me, nor does he ever ask how I’m feeling. I signed up for a birthing and breastfeeding class and he’s coming with me to that (only when I asked).  But the new dads class I asked him to go to he won’t do. I know he’ll be a good dad I’m just disappointed in his lack of interest.

Men just feel differently about it than women do because they aren’t the ones actually carrying the baby. My husband was the same with our daughter and is like that this time too lol. It doesn’t mean he’s uninterested or doesn’t care. My husband was more than willing to come with me for any classes I wanted to us go to, etc. but he also was not for new dad classes the first time around lol. He pretty much let’s me make final decisions on like products we’ll use and stuff, I just am always sending him links about car seats or other baby stuff and he gives me his input. but always is super involved in names. He gets super involved once the baby is actually here tho. He surprised me after our daughter was born and is an amazing father. So it’s probably the same for your husband! Just be open about it and communicate.

There is some truth to the saying “women become a parent at conception and men become a parent at birth.”
My husband has tried to be involved, but just barely. He told me there are days he looks at me and just has trouble wrapping his head around the fact that there’s a baby in my belly. He has been sympathetic of my pain (in my third trimester) and made a small attempt to help with the registry, but has only gone to one appointment and it freaks him out if I ask him to feel the baby kick. In all honesty, I think he’s just really scared and doesn’t know what to do right now. I have no doubt he’ll be a good dad though.

My husband wasn’t involved in my pregnancy at all except for the doctor’s appointments that he never missed any. I tried involving him in baby shopping but he wasn’t interested much so I ended getting everything myself including the stroller and the crib. So I would just show him my shopping in the evening when he was back from work and he was more than happy to see it. But I didn’t find it offensive or weird at all. He knows how picky I am so I don’t think it would have been a good idea for him to buy anything himself at all considering he knows nothing about babies

He sounds pretty involved to me! Lol. 
It’s different for men. Our bodies change and we can feel baby kicking. I think men love their babies while they are in the womb, but it’s still almost a concept to them until baby is actually born. My husband went to the major ultrasounds for both of our boys. He never wanted to feel kicks (he is squeamish with that kind of thing) and he helped me pick names. That’s about it. But I can tell you there’s not a thing that man wouldn’t do for our little boy (still pregnant with the second) 
He is the BEST dad and super involved. There’s just not very much they can do during your pregnancy besides be supportive of you. Most men don’t care about the registries and things like that. It’s more exciting for the moms!

He’s super excited about this pregnancy but has zero idea about anything baby would need. The only input he has had for the registry was a Baby Brezza (we had one with our first when my milk dried up). He has no idea what a Mamaroo is, he has no idea what a bassinet is besides the basics. He doesn’t care about her nursery theme or a DockATot. He’s super involved in other ways though. He always makes sure to say he loves the three of us, says hi to my belly every day and kisses it goodnight. Whenever my daughter is being a butthole and kicking me (she doesn’t kick hard but she’s a toddler and plays too hard some times for a 31 week pregnant woman) he tells her to stop kicking me or she will hurt her sister.

My husband and i were trying to concieve for 14 months before we got pregnant we both wanted a baby he really is excited but i guess to macho to show it 😂 our boy will be here in june and i think maybe then i can get some type of reaction out of hubby my mom told me once he has baby in his arms he will be happy lol men have a hard time expressing feelings towards pregnancy because they dont experience it like we do i mean he only feels the baby kick when i put his hand on my belly but i feel the baby all day think about it and it makes sense its hard for them to bobd and connect until they can physically hold the baby

He has gone to every appointment with me. He rubs and talks to my belly everyday. He’s excited and has talked names with me, but we can’t agree lol. He’ll be going to birthing classes with me. He didn’t care at all what the nursery theme was but it helping put it together. He doesn’t care what’s on the registry so that’s all up to me.

Men are different during pregnancy. My husband did nothing and other than one ultrasound and one doctors visit had nothing to do with my sons pregnancy. But let me tell you there is nothing they man won’t do for that little boy. He loves him and will do anything to see him smile. I’m pregnant again and he’s a little more involved but I don’t expect too much i know when our daughter gets here things will be different.
