Just a rant, not really looking for advice.

I’m 17. I live on my own, make my own money, take care of myself and my cat and have almost zero financial dependency on my parents besides my mom who pays my rent. I rarely see them either. I don’t think I can get approved for emancipation because you’d have to prove you can pay for your own housing, which, in the place I live is NOT physically possible for a working student. Both my parents are awful with money. Having a co-signed bank account with either of them, sucks. I am afraid that something bad will happen and the bank will take my money since it’s attached to their name. Just wish I could open my own bank account so badly. I have looked into it everywhere and just don’t think it’s possible.

hi I never said you had to be emancipated to get a bank account. I have a debit card and account, however it has to be co-signed with an adult. I have looked into four banks now and haven’t been able to find one that you can have your own with. My parents WANT me to have my own as well.
