Am I overreacting about what my boss said?
I've been working for this place for about 8 months, and I'm doing a great job, but it feels like that isn't enough to get the same opportunities as my male co-workers. My boss said he didn't take me to a field service trip because it was short notice and he didn't know what my husband would think of that. I asked him, what is he supposed to think? He sai he didn't want to get me in trouble. Conversation ended there because I honestly had no other reaction.
Am I overreacting that he shouldn't have said that? And even if he thinks that way, he shouldn't have said to his female employee.
Oh and the guy he took with him is married, has a kid and his wife is pregnant!
Just FYI, he knows my husband, he is the chillest guy on the planet, I told him that and he said "did you tell him I don't care?"
My husband told me to talk to our manager about it, because nothing will change if I don't, I don't want to be the annoying bitch, because I'm the first female worker in this department, but this feels like I'll never be at the same level as my coworkers if I'm not treated the same way.
