Husband vs. Wife wanting more kids?

Question

Has anyone else ever had a long term discussion on how many kids you want? Originally we both only wanted two kids, but now we have two I'd gladly have two more, but my husband doesn't agree. I will not pressure him as it is his choice and I respect that, but it made me curious if this was a common sort of thing that happens?

Ok so when we met my husband had 3 kids already... He didnt really know if he wanted more but I have ALWAYS wanted 2 at the very least and had 0. We discussed it and agreeed to have 1... Then she was born and my husband said he loved her so much he was open if it happened to having 1 more but then he wants us to both get "fixed". I am cureently pregnant with #2 and conrtent with the idea of tying my tubes after this child. I think it's something that has to be discussed openly and honestly.

We’re generally on the same page about this. Our daughter was a surprise and we were young, freshly married. I got pregnant the week we got married lol. After her, we stood by no more kids for almost 3 years. He’s wanted another baby and has expressed it. I wasn’t ready yet so he just respected that. Then finally, I was ready so here I am pregnant with number 2. Our daughter will be 5 shortly after this baby is born. We’ve tossed around The idea of number 3 after this baby, but it again would be a few years due to military obligations, constant moving, etc. This is one of those things that I think if one partner doesn’t want more kids, the other needs to make that sacrifice for their partner. 🤷🏻‍♀️ or just wait until they are ready. It’s hard but that’s part of marriage. I feel that if one partner makes the other (however that looks, cos there’s multiple scenarios), the one partner may resent their partner and the child (or children). Of course, not always the case! But that’s just me.

I want a million babies! I'm not sure how many we will get but we're going with the flow. I always say we'll nowadays people have 1-3, get divorced, marry someone with 1-3 and have one together to "make the family" and wind up with 3-7 😂 so our plan is to have lots of babies with only each other, no one likes that explanation tho cause it makes them think about their divorces

We originally thought 2. It took us 10 years to have our first and once she was here my husband said she was more than enough and we were one and done. Since nothing was being done to prevent it 🤷‍♀️ I'm now pregnant with #2. He is adamant that this is it and I should  get my tubes tied. As much as I know he's right, I am still struggling with the possibility of having 3 kids. Realistically, I'm 33 and said I would never have kids over the age of 35. Not to mention both my pregnancies have been high risk and had complications. 
It's hard knowing he's not on board with anymore kids but I feel, in this situation, he is right. I think that because it took so long to finally have our family, I'm not quite ready to be told, once again, you won't have kids! 
I think if there is a difference of opinion on how many children, both partners should express their feelings and reasonings and eventually you have to come to an agreement. Sadly, one is not going to get their way.

Me and my husband both want 3-4 but I’m about to pop on #1 and this pregnancy has been so horrible but wouldn’t change it for the world. I would consider more kids but my daughter took 5 1/2 years to conceive I don’t think I could do another 2-4 years or longer to have another.

We agreed on “two and through” so we’re done after this baby. I’d totally keep having babies but I know financially and logistically it is better to stick to 2. It just makes me sad to think this is my last baby 👶🏻

Me and husband had three of our own , did surrogacy and then had a tubal ligation and was positive We were done . 8years later I am remarried to someone who has no children and who never wanted any of his own until he fell in love with my three and now we just went through ivf fet to have one ... so yes it’s normal for you to change your mind . You never know where life will take you .

I already had one and then we had one together. I always wanted two but as soon as my second son was born—I knew instantly I wanted another one. So we struggled with fertility and we had a miscarriage and then finally baby boy number 3. Husband was done but I’m like one more ppplllleease!!!!! So baby GIRL is due in June and then we’re officially done. He’s going to get a vasectomy when baby is closer to a year old. Had it not been for me having to really beg for baby number 4, I may have been interested in a 5th baby. However, 4 is enough and my pregnancies are horrible with GD and SPD. Plus this will be my 3rd cesarean. So it’s time to throw in the towel and enjoy the little ones I already have. 
One thing I said to my husband when I wanted another baby and he didnt is that I felt I was not done having kids and eventually I won’t be able to have anymore and I did not want to spend the rest of my life wondering if I made the right choice. I also needed to go into this last pregnancy knowing this is the last one. I think that way I’m able to accept it and be on board with it.
