Is it ok to be upset?

Well we did our little gender reveal today. I’ll admit I am a bit upset with how it turned out. One thing for sure though is that the baby is healthy. Was just hoping for a girl to break up all the testosterone in the house. Baby boy number 3.

Also, is it possible that the blood test is wrong? 🤦🏼‍♀️😞😂

I think that can be very normal. My first 2 pregnancies ended in miscarriage so of course we just wanted a healthy baby but I’ve always wanted a boy first and if it had been a girl I know I would’ve experienced mild gender disappointment as well at first.

I’m also expecting boy #3. I was so disappointed, because it’s our last. I did Sneak Peek at 9 weeks and it said boy, but I refused to believe it because I was so sure I contaminated it. But it was confirmed it was a boy at my last ultrasound. I’m sure once some time passes, we’ll all feel better about it. But it’s okay to feel the disappointment for a bit. Congratulations 🎉

Y’all, it took me 3 days to get over it. I cried a lot. I think I was just really mourning the loss of a daughter I would never have. It still breaks my heart thinking about it because it’s what I had always envisioned. We started talking names and I think that has helped some. Still a little emotional about it all but this is what it is. My mom told me I should have just waited to know the gender because when they hand you a baby it’s hard to be upset. I will say though that not one person told me I was a jerk for feeling that way. I am officially a boy mom for life.

My husband and I experienced some major gender disappointment with this baby when we first found out it was a boy. We are over it now, but my husband had the same question you did, “how accurate is the test?”
The doc told us the test we took was 99% accurate, especially since it found the Y chromosome. Doctor couldn’t say it, but I could because I worked medicine for the longest time and just blurted out in the office, “they say 99% accuracy, not because there’s an ACTUAL 1%, 1 in 100, chance they’re wrong, it’s just so that if they’re wrong, you can’t sue them over it.” The doc just pointed at me and nodded his head, and said in all of the years he’s done this test, he’s never seen it come back wrong, at least about the gender.

It took about 2 (maybe a bit more) weeks to finally start feeling excited for this pregnancy again after finding out the gender. It’s okay momma!

Also having 3rd boy here! Gender disappointment is a thing, but this too shall pass. I haven’t had it as much with this pregnancy, but with my second boy I cried. Had to immediately figure out a name for him so I could start bonding because my heart was truly set on it being a girl. This time around, I’ll mourn the idea of ever being a mom to a little girl and continue to be excited about meeting this little guy! Everyone will say healthy baby is goal, but it’s okay to have gender disappointment too. 💙 Good luck momma!

So normal,  but it will change.    My husband and I have 2 girls each from prior relationships.   So when we got pregnant with our first together we were really hoping for a boy.  But we had girl #5.  And would not give her up for anything, she is just what our family needed.     Now 2 1/2 years later we got our first boy!!
