Paraguard What is Normal?

I had the copper Paraguard IUD inserted a week and a half ago. I’ve been having bad cramps, bleeding (sometimes heavy) and painful sex. My partner also can REALLY feel the strings now and we’ve stopped intercourse all together since it’s not a good experience for either of us. Has anyone else had similar experiences and did it get better? I couldn’t get a gyn appointment for a few more days.
