How soon do you miss your period?

Is it right after you conceive or the period after that one? Bc I know when you typically find out is when you're at about 6 weeks? So I'm just getting all mixed up in my head.

Let’s say you start your period on April 1. You’d likely ovulate on April 14th (if you have a 28 day, average cycle). You’d like test around April 28th. You’d almost be 4w pregnant by the time you “missed” your period of you were pregnant. Does that help? 
Technically the first day of your period is when the counting starts.
