Crazy birth/labor/postpartum story!

*UPDATE*

I was trying to stand up from my knees in the carpet and lost my balance and fell over and now have a broken pelvis. The Dr.s are extremely worried because when someone breaks there pelvis like I did it’s usually due to a high impact car crash not from just falling a few feet. Hopefully these tests in the next few weeks will tell me something because I havent been feeling well 😞

All through my pregnancy I struggled with UTI’s and was on constant antibiotics for it. At 32 weeks my kidneys were hurting and only got worse. I told my OB about it and he said everything looked normal and it was probably just my UTI that was affecting them. A few nights later I was in so much pain I decided to go to the ER that was attached to my hospital. I was diagnosed with pyelonephritis (severe kidney infection). My OB was the one on call and decided to admit me to the hospital and give me IV antibiotics since my pill antibiotics apparently weren’t helping. I was released 2 days later and was told to keep taking my pill antibiotics because if the kidney infection or the UTI came back I would most likely go into pre term labor. Fast forward to the night before I turned 36 weeks. I had been having a few contractions all week but that day I had been having some on and off but they were not regular. That night they still were not regular but we’re definitely getting stronger. Me and my husband went to bed around 11 and at 12 I woke up to wet shorts and a wet bed. I thought I had peed the bed, so I got up and went to the bathroom, changed clothes, woke up my husband to change the sheets and layed back down. Contractions automatically picked up but we’re still not regular but we’re making me have cold sweats. About 15 minutes after I “peed” the bed I had another random gush and immediately went to the bathroom where I had a really strong contraction and decided to get my husband up once again to pack our bags and get to the hospital to get checked out. My family is known to have quick labors and my hospital was 30 minutes away so I decided better be safe than sorry. We got all our bags packed and off to the hospital we go! We got checked into labor and delivery and the nurse confirmed my water had broken and I was dilated to a 3 and was 90% effaced. I decided I wanted an epidural due to me not being able to calm down during contractions and breath through them. After the epidural I was feeling good and confident and at 9:49 am I gave birth to my 4lb 12oz baby girl. She was breathing fine and had no problems! I had a 2 degree episiotomy and was not able to deliver my placenta naturally. My OB went in and was digging for my placenta and after about 15 minutes of him digging and pushing on my tummy he pulled it out. He stated that it was very small and that was very unusual but just left it at that. After labor I was doing well and baby was doing well so 2 days later we were dismissed to go home. I tried to breastfeed but I could not produce enough colostrum and my milk never came in. Fast forward a week and a half and I started passing bigger blood clots and was bleeding quit a bit but never thought anything about it. One night I was sitting in a lawn chair outside when all of a sudden I felt like my water had broken once again and looked down and there was blood all over me, the chair and the floor. Mind me, I was wearing a depends with a big pad in it. I had bled through all that and immediately got dizzy and told my husband something wasn’t right. He helped me to the bathroom where I got cleaned up and went to the ER right down the street where I did not want to go because I had heard horror stories but also did not want to bleed out. I got checked in and they took blood, did an internal exam, an ultrasound and then filled me with fluids. They told me everything looked normal and told me to follow up with my OB the next day to make sure my levels were not dropping. I called my OB the next day and his nurse told me he was in surgery all day but I could see another OB and they immediately wanted me to come in. I went in and got another ultrasound and saw the dr. The dr immediately came back in and told me I needed to go check into the hospital because I was about to have an emergency D&C. I was told the procedure would only take 30 minutes and I would most likely be able to go home a few hours later. When I woke up after the surgery my husband said it took an hour and a half and the dr had come in and told him I was going to be admitted once again because of how intense the surgery was and how much blood I had lost. The next morning they came in and took my blood and a few hours later I was giving consent to have a double blood transfusion. Later that day I was sent home and was finally feeling so much better. Never would I have ever thought I would go through so much with my first pregnancy and had I not gone to see my OB the next day I could have had to have a hysterectomy at 22 years old or could have possibly lost my life. Baby girl is now a month old and is growing and doing well and I am finally in my recovery stage and feeling much better!
