So for the last few years after abnormal Pap smears I’ve been called back to the gyno for a colposcopy which always came back fine, this year was no different except I decided I wasn’t going to do the colposcopy because

1. They hurt more and more each year for something that comes back fine every time and

2. I really don’t have the extra $300 for that so I asked the nurse if I could just skip it this year.

She went and talked to the doctor and came back to tell me that since I didn’t want to do the colposcopy that a surgery called LEEP was recommended for me because it seemed like there were more abnormal cells than before.

Me being the person that I am, I immediately googled the surgery and side effects and now I’m a little freaked out. I have been with the same person for almost 4 years now and he has been with exclusively me in that time frame as well so I have had HPV for at least that long, which means if I have it, he probably does too, right? If I have this surgery to remove all abnormal cells from my cervix, is there a possibility that they will come back because he more than likely has this virus too??
