Maybe something like this would be nice. Grey or grey and white. Having them All white will clash with appliances. Cherry wouldn’t be to nice with white appliances. I do think it looks nice but I understand your want for change. I want white or grey cabinets as well!

I actually don’t mind this the way it is if the appliances were updated and some color on the walls/window treatments maybe. Just changing out the hardware on the cabinets would make a huge difference! Also, just know that painting cabinets isn’t as easy a DIY job as people make it out to be if you’re planning on doing it on your own...
This is my kitchen before and after when we moved in. Just the color on the walls and window treatments made a huge difference. We also changed the light in there and that made a big difference too
