Our third baby girl was born in January and I’ve breastfed all three of my girls, and with both of my first two I had mastitis. With my second I had mastitis and thrush. I cannot even begin to describe the pain. We never had a painless breastfeeding experience. But I nursed through it with both till 6 months postpartum.

This time I have had the best breastfeeding experience. No pain, she latched the first time I held her and she has never had a bottle. But today I woke up feeling sick. And now my left breast is all red, hot and I’m burning up but I have goosebumps. I had no pain in my breast until just a few min ago. She’s still breastfeeding but I cannot help but sit here in despair. The tears can’t stop because all I wanted was one baby I could breastfeed without this pain. This excruciating pain.

I’m doing warm compresses. What else can I do?
