When can I go back to underwire bras?

I’m a ftm with a newborn.. so I have to wear wireless bras for as long as I’m breastfeeding? Or can I go back to underwire wile I’m still feeding??

I went back to wearing a bra with an underwire around 8 months PP. For the most part it was fine but I did notice that I got plugged ducts 4 different times after switching back to an underwire and I had never had a plugged duct before that. So now I try to only wear an underwire for short periods of time when I really need them or something. I got a nursing bra that looks more like a normal bra that doesn't have an underwire for my every day bra. When I started limiting how often I wore the nursing bra with an underwire I stopped getting plugged ducts. I'm not saying the underwire definitely caused the plugged ducts. I'm just sharing what happened and how because of all that I'm now much more judicious in my use of underwires.

I never wear one breastfeeding. I think they’re uncomfortable.

I took a BF class last week and they said just don’t wear the underwire at night. If you wear it during the day that’s fine. They said wearing it at night “could” effect milk supply.

I was told to wait until your baby is 6 weeks old because by then your milk will have regulated and it likely won’t cause issues anymore.

Not sure. I don't wear them anymore but a friend of mine wore one for the first time at about 9 months pp and got mastitis. So that pretty much swore me off them. Plus they're uncomfortable anyway 🤷‍♀️

I am a 34E and wear them regularly. Looks much better and they don't bother me too much when I feed my girl.

I’ve breastfed for a total of almost 30 months between my two kids and have ALWAYS worn an underwire nursing bra.
