My son was born April 18th at 37 weeks +1 day and weighed 5lbs. Due to me pushing him out so fast he swallowed some blood and was taken to NICU for oxygen. The first few days they had him on an Iv (for antibiotics) which was taken out yesterday (21st). He was taken off oxygen after the first 24 hours and hasnt needed it since. Other than slight jaundice his only issue now is that he doesnt seem to want to eat as much as they would like. Hes getting breastmilk (and I'm producing way more than hes eating) so I know they added protein to it to help keep up his weight. But currently hes only eating about an ounce at every feeding. He takes a bottle for about 10 minutes then gets tired and is given the rest thru a feeding tube. And every day the nurse/ doctor say maybe just a few more days. I know that's not a very definitive answer but I feel like he will be there forever based on how they want him to eat. Hes sleeping in a regular cot and no longer in the warmer bed he just is sleepy and doesnt eat alot. Anyway else have this issue? How long was your baby kept in NICU?
