PMS and Period Concern

So as of late I've been doing research because my friend recently got help for her severe PMS and was given meds for it. I've had some big concerns about my period ever since I started it. My flows are heavy and my cramps are severe, most times I can't function properly while on my period without taking pain killers.

Today I asked my mom about seeing a doctor, she stayed silent for a moment and then told me her concerns about taking me to the doctor, considering I masturbate and I no longer have a hymen. This caused me to blow up saying it would be pathetic and stupid for the doctors to deny me medical attention for my PMS and period just because I masturbate and have a hymen, she then gave me a very huffy "fine I'll take you to a doctor, but you'll have to explain everything." After me crying because I got so angry. I understand her concerns if they want to give me a pelvic exam, I've never had one before, but my friend told me that all she had to do was tell her doctor her symptoms and they ended up giving her a prescription. I don't know, I guess I just need another opinion on this. Sorry if this seems like a ramble.
